There’s not much to be said about the beauty of Table Mountain that has not be said before. But let’s try.
Upon my return home I made it one of my goals to climb Table Mountain. I mean I have taken the cableway all the way to the top and back down but this time I decided to challenge myself. And what a challenge it was. Due to my trusty Fitbit, I can tell you that it took me 1 hour 54 minutes and 37 seconds to reach the top. By this time I had probably considered stopping and turning back about 10 times, if not more, and cursed my decision to climb this beautiful mountain with every heaving breath. So just to clarify, I am obviously unfit and as difficult and impossible as it seemed halfway I finally reached the top and was able to experience walking above the clouds.
Once at the top there is a Café as well as a souvenir shop. The horizon dusted with the flecks of society and the fresh air definitely made the hike worth it. Of course, there was still the lengthy trek down. Going down we decreased the time by 30 minutes, it could have been done quicker but I tend to admire the view more when I’m making my way down the mountain. It’s easy to see why Table Mountain is one of the seven wonders of the world!
Apart from my insight, there’s this article that I found and would like to share with you. Click here for Cape Town’s magazine to give you 15 interesting facts about this beautiful mountain.
