Life at 23

I’m so lucky to be at that point in my life where I travel the world.

I never think about my life in this way because most of my time is spent working and sleeping and working while wishing that I was sleeping. But at the end of the day- I am working in a country that isn’t my home country, I am earning a living while studying and at six-month intervals (give or take) I get to break away for four or five days to wherever my heart desires (within the United States).

It’s so easy to forget that 18 year old me worked really hard to get where I am today.

I took my first flight out of South Africa two months before my 19th birthday and here I am a good 4 and a half years later working at the exact same place. In so many ways it’s the same but in truth, everything has changed, seamlessly -without my knowledge. That’s what they call life, this daily in-and-out of everyday tasks, of wishing the years away in order to skip to that part that you see in your head where you have everything figured out and life is easy and everything falls into place. But I see it now- that’s just a fantasy. This is life, these are the days that I will be thinking of in a few years. it’s difficult to remember that today, in the pale daylight and with my strong coffee forms part of my one day. They say life is short and I cannot believe that we’re already in April and there’s still so much left to do before I head back to Wyoming at the end of May.

I haven’t written any creative pieces in what feels like forever and I am so excited to feel the thrill of creation once more, whenever that decides to happen.

But as for things that I have managed to do so far in this fast-paced year of 2019 I finally managed to stick to an exercise routine. I joined Orangetheory and let me tell you- WOW! First of all, I don’t think I’ve ever been fit in my whole life, but going to a one-hour class twice a week didn’t seem too impossible so I attended the free first class and decided that this is the thing for me.

I’m in week 8 and can happily say that at least I’ve achieved something this year.

At the end of March I took a much needed 4-day trip to LA and what an adventure that was! Hopefully, I get to share the adventure with you soon!

Hope 2019 has been good to you so far!
