Life in Abu Dhabi

2021 Has been quite a year, and that’s the only way I can explain my absence.

As the year continued to roll along in strange, unseen waves that crash into you when you least expect it I somehow managed to step into the shoes of a marketing coordinator- yes I finally made the career shift!

For those of you new around here, I have been in hospitality for ages and let me tell you that learning proper email etiquette has been very interesting. Before the shift I was nervous, because I am used to running around, talking to guests, taking 10 orders all at once, and now I will be sitting at a desk; my desk.

I have been in my position for 3 months now and I can honestly say that there is not a single day that I have thought about going back, or where I have been bored- it’s like a dream come true, a very strange stressful dream where my to-do list is seemingly endless, but nevertheless I love my job.

Anyway, I just wanted to pop in and tell you to keep going. What you want might not come to you in a way you expect it, but it is on the way. Believe me, before this I was questioning every single life choice that I have made and now I understand that everything I went through (being sent home unexpectedly, unable to return to the US, finally applying for the UAE after months of being stuck home without a job, getting here and not enjoying my job to the point where it pushed my to my favorite writer’s group that I meet up with twice a month, it forced me to volunteer for a conference that ultimately changed my life and put me in the very shoes I am today.

It is not perfect, but it is what I wanted and I couldn’t be happier.

If you are a writer in Abu Dhabi I would love to have you reach out- maybe we can meet at the next writer’s meet up.

Let me know,
and talk to you when I get chance again.

Back before summer started
